Delta sub-variant dapat bantayan ng gobyerno – expert

Manila, Philippines — Nanawagan ang isang eksperto sa gobyerno na mahigpit na bantayan ang Delta subvariant na natukoy sa United Kingdom (UK) at 27 pang ibang bansa.

Sa panayam, sinabi ni former National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 adviser Dr. Tony Leachon na hindi dapat magdalawang-isip ang gobyerno na isara ang borders oras na maging  ‘variant of concern’ ito.

“We have a track record for late closure of our borders to countries with variants of concern.”

Samantala, sinabi ni Dr. Maricar Limpin, co-convener ng Healthcare Professional Alliance Against COVID-19, likewise na ang bagong lineage ay nananatiling “virus of interest.”

Sinabi rin ni Dr. Michael Tee ng University of the Philippines College of Medicine na ‘natural’ para sa mga virus na mag-mutate.

“These mutations or variants will then have to be evaluated properly. If it proves to be more transmissible, is able to escape immunity or more likely to cause talization then we will expect either the US Centers for Disease Control or the WHO to identify these as variants of concern,” ani Tee na siyang research fellow ng  independent pandemic monitor OCTA Research.
