‘Di otorisadong baril, bodyguards sa Halalan 2022 tututukan ng PNP

MANILA, Philippines – Palalakasin ng Philippine National Police (PNP) ang pagtarget nito laban sa mga hindi awtorisadong baril at bodyguards bilang paghahanda sa Halalan 2022.

Dahil dito, iniatas na ni PNP chief, Gen. Dionardo Carlos, sa lahat ng PNP Directorial Staff, mga police commanders, at national support units na tumugon sa mandato ng Comelec Resolution No. 10728.

Nakasaad sa nasabing resolusyon: “No person shall bear, carry or transport firearms or deadly weapons outside his/her residence or place of business, and in all public places, including any building, street, park, and in private vehicles or public conveyances, even if he/she is licensed or authorized to possess or carry the same, unless authorized by the [Comelec], through the Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns (CBFSC)”.

“I have already laid down my guidance to the PNP commanders during the Command Conference last Monday, and I expect this guidance to be cascaded and adapted in operations planning by lower units,” ayon naman sa pahayag ni Carlos.

Sa nasabi ring resolusyon nakasaad na tanging PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines at Philippine Coast Guard, ang papayagang magbitbit ng armas habang nakasuot ng agency-prescribed uniform at nagtatrabaho pagdating ng election period.

Patungkol naman sa security detail, pinagbabawalan ng Comelec ang mga kandidato at iba pang public official na magkaroon ng bodyguards at private security forces.

Sinabi ni Carlos na unti-unti na nilang pababalikin ang mga police personnel na naka-assign bilang security detail sa local executives at iba pang VIPs na may mga banta sa kanilang buhay.

“A complete accounting of police personnel with detail orders to provide security to some public officials and some private individuals is now underway to hasten the recall process,” ayon pa sa bagong PNP Chief.

Sa kabila nito, maaari namang mag-aplay sa Comelec ang mga apektadong local official at VIP para sa kanilang security detail pero dapat ay may endorsement ito ng PNP. RNT
