PH Air Force nakilahok sa GOPLAT exercises sa Palawan

MANILA, Philippines- Isa sa Bell 412 combat utility helicopters ng Philippine Air Force ang nagsilbing aerial platform para sa mga sundalong kalahok sa gas-oil platform takedown (GOPLAT) exercises sa  Matinloc sa  El Nido, Palawan.

Sinabi ni PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo na nilalayon ng exercise na bumuo ng mutual defense capability at palakasin ang maritime security ng bansa.

Ang helicopter ay mula sa 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing at idineploy para tumulong sa pagkakasa ng tinatawag na fast rope insertion and extraction system (FRIES) noong Abril 16.

Ang “FRIES” ay isang specialized mechanical system na nagpapagana sa rapid tactical insertion at  extraction ng  personnel sa mga lugar kung saan walang helicopter landings.

“The demonstration involved the protection of a retired Matinloc platform, which served as a stand-in for the Malampaya platform. The Bell 412 helicopter facilitated the vertical insertion of the elite assault troops from the Naval Special Operations Unit (NAVSOU) through ‘FRIES’,” dagdag ng tagapagsalita.

Kabilang din sa mga kalahok sa GOPLAT exercises ang Philippine Navy at sinaksihan ng US military counterparts bilang observers. RNT/SA
