Mga nasawing kongresista, empleyado kinilala sa Kamara

MANILA, Philippines – Sa ikalawang taon ay nagdaos ng isang memorial.service ang House of Representatives bilang pagkilala sa mga kasalukuyan at dating mambabatas gayundin sa mga empleyado nito na nasawi sa COVID-19.

Pinangunahan ni House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco ang tribute para sa mga yumaong sina Antipolo City Rep. Resurreccion Acop; dating Deputy Speaker Pablo Garcia; dating senators John Henry “Sonny” Osmeña, Victor Ziga; at dating Pangulong Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Bukod dito ay nagbigay din ng memorial service ang Kamara sa 26 pang dating miyembro nito at 23 House employees na nasawi.

“The legislative chamber traditionally holds necrological services for each legislator. But because of the safety and health restrictions stemming from the pandemic, it decided to organize just one memorial service honoring those who died these past few months” ayon kay Velasco.

Noong Oktubre noong nakaraang taon ay kahalintulad na memorial service din ang ginawa ng Kamara para sa mga nasawi sa pandemic.

Sa kanyang eulogy ay ipinaabot ni Velasco ang kanyang pakikiramay sa mga naiwang kaanak ng mga nasawi.

“We are gathered here together, finally, after many months, to take these griefs back; to take back our capabilities to physically sympathize with one another. And more importantly: we are here to honor these venerable public officials and employees who left us with their enduring legacy of public service to our country,” pahayag nito.

Hindi lamang umano pagdadalamhati ang service na ibinigay ng Kamara kundi bilang selebrasyon din sa buhay ng mga dating kasamahan na malaki ang naitulong sa Kamara.

“We cherish the moments they spent on public service, crafting relevant laws, engaging in plenary debates, touching the lives of their constituents, especially the poor and the deprived. We cherish those moments because it made our lives a little better than it was. The Philippines is all the richer because you, their family, shared their life with us,” giit pa ni Velasco.
