NAVOTAS SETS NEW RECORD FOR THIS YEAR’S LOWEST ACTIVE COVID-19 CASES

NAVOTAS Mayor Toby Tiangco said the city has recorded the lowest Covid-19 cases at 31 this year, breaking its February 6 record at 33.

With only 31 active cases as of November 2, he also cited a report from the OCTA Research Group classifying the city as ‘very low risk.’

“We congratulate and thank each Navoteño especially our frontliners for doing their utmost to help keep our city safe from Covid-19,” said the mayor as he reiterated his appeal to his constituents to continue practicing the safety and health protocols in order not to put the sacrifices to waste.

He urged Navoteños to have themselves inoculated against COVID-19 as the city government opened three sites for pediatric vaccination.

Vaccination for kids with comorbidities

Mayor Toby said they first conducted a dry-run at the Navotas City Hospital where the medical team has rehearsed the process of attending to a child vaccinee experiencing adverse reaction after vaccination.

The city had the first schedule where it inoculated 150 minors with Pfizer Covid vaccine.

“Let us take advantage of this opportunity and have your kids vaccinated in order to protect them as well as family and the community against Covid-19,” he said on parents.

Exceeding target for MR-TD vaccination for kids

The local government has exceeded on its target of vaccinating children aged 6-7 years old with its community-based immunization against measles, rubella, tetanus and diphtheria, Mayor Toby said.

Quoting data from the Department of Health, he said the City Health Office has vaccinated 6,309 kids or 106.15 percent of the 5,944 target.

Meanwhile, he said 5,472 out of 5,756 children aged 12 and 13 years old have also received MR-TD vaccine as of October 21, 2021.

“We are grateful to our health workers for their relentless efforts in protecting our children from diseases. We also thank the parents and guardians for their cooperation in our immunization program,” he said.

“We have started the inoculation of Navoteño residents and students aged 17 years old with comorbidity against Covid-19. We hope this will have the same reception and acceptance as with the MR-TD vaccination program,” he added.

The Navotas chief executive said it was crucial that they reach their target at the earliest time so that their children will soon enjoy greater mobility as well as access to face-to-face classes.

He has urged parents to register their children for Covid vaccination at https://ift.tt/Ksu8FpV and they may also visit the city’s vaccination centers for onsite registration.
