DOTR: NCR ‘ideal place’ na simulan ang 100% PUV capacity ‘pag pinayagan na

MANILA, Philippines – Target ng Department of Transportation (DOTR) ang National Capital Region (NCR) na pagdausan ng testing ng planong ibalik ang 100% kapasidad ng pasahero sa mga public utility vehicle.

Ayon sa ahensya na sinabi ngayong Martes, Oktubre 26 ‘ideal place’ ang Metro Manila dahil malaking bahagi na ng populasyon ang fully vaccinated kontra COVID-19.

“Metro Manila is the ideal place to test the proposal considering that 81.4% of its population is now fully vaccinated against COVID-19,” pahayag ng DOTR sa isang statement.

“In addition, public utility jeepneys and buses operating in Metro Manila are well-ventilated,” dagdag pa nito.

Matatandaan na sa pagdinig ng Senado kahapon, humihirit ang ahensya na payagan na sila ng Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na payagan na sila sa hiling na taasan ang capacity sa mga PUVs mula sa 50% at gawing 100%.

“We are ready to defend our position to the IATF this coming Thursday because we know that we need to propose this to the IATF as this is not only a matter of public transportation but also a matter of public health,” ani DOTR Assistant Secretary Mark Steven Pastor sa mga senador.

Ayon rin sa DOTR, dahil nasa Alert Level 3 na ang Metro Manila, mas tumaas na umano ang demand sa mga pampublikong sasakyan dahil marami na ang lumalabas para magtrabaho.

“Studies have shown that reliance on complete face mask use and partial hand sanitizer use were proven enough to contain three very modest COVID-19 waves while preserving normal bus services,” aniya.

“Other studies have also revealed that passengers in the high-risk zones (seats in the same row with an infected passenger and within 3 rows) had moderate but not significantly higher risk, and that ‘rigid’ safe distancing rules are an oversimplification based on outdated science and experiences of past viruses,” dagdag pa.

Maliban pa umano ito sa katotohanan na apektado ang kita ng mga driver dahil sa bawat na kapasidad sa mga pasahero. RNT
