Delta subvariant ng COVID ‘di pa ‘variant of concern’ sa bansa – WHO

MANILA, Philippines – Hindi pa umano maituturing na variant of concern ang Delta subvariant sa bansa.

Ito ang sinabi ng World Health Organization (WHO) ngayong Lunes, Oktubre 25 kasabay ng pagpapaalala sa publiko na huwag pa ring magpaka-kampante laban sa COVID-19.

Ayon kay WHO representative to the Philippines Rabindra Abeyasinghe, wala pa umanong naitatalang kaso ng Delta subvariant o AY.4.2 ng United Kingdom, sa bansa.

Nakikipag-ugnayan na umano ang WHO sa mga bansang mayroon nang kumpirmadong kaso nito.

“We are looking very closely at this. Right now this is not classified as a variant of interest or variant of concern. The WHO continues to monitor the spread of this particular variant that has been detected,” pahayag ni Abeyasinghe kasabay ng Laging Handa briefing.

“We want to understand that they process a particular risk more than the Delta variant in terms of transmissibility, in terms of the disease it causes, and its response to vaccines,” dagdag pa niya.

“With more evidence, we will share that with the Philippines and other countries. I also want to add that the Philippines is also monitoring variants, and this particular variant has not yet been confirmed in the Philippines,” ani Abeyasinghe.
