1Sambayan target na maging ‘broadest opposition coalition’ sa 2022 polls – Carpio

Manila, Philippines – Iginiit ni Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio na nilalayon ng opposition coalition na 1Sambayan na maging ‘broadest coalition’ sa bansa.

 “We are now 40 chapters in the Philippines, and we have 20 chapters abroad consisting of overseas Filipino workers. We are also talking to political parties to form the broadest political coalition since the end of [Marcos’] martial law,” lahad ni Carpio sa virtual press conference.

“It is not easy to keep a coalition intact, especially we have people from left to right. But we all believe in participatory democracy, free and fair elections, and constitutional rights, so we are broad.”

 “We are red-tagged, called yellow or old. And that is okay because we are really a coalition of all members of society,” dagdag pa nito.

Sang-ayon naman dito si Renee Co, 1Sambayan Youth convenor.

“We need to listen to people of various backgrounds and advocacies…as long as you love democracy and you fight for it.” RNT/FGDC
