Manila, Philippines – Iginiit na nawalan ng oportunidad ang Department of Health (DOH) na gamitin ang P67.32 bilyon sa COVID-19 funds upang mapaunlad at mapaganda ang healthcare system ng bansa.
Sa congressional hearing, sinabi ni Commission on Audit (COA) Supervising Auditor Rhodora Ugay na marami sanang nagawa ang DOH sa pondo.
“For example, the unobligated funds could have been used—the P11.89 billion—the utilization of this fund should have been imbued with urgency, considering that these are released purposely to address the state of emergency,” saad nito.
“These are opportunities to improve on our healthcare system that were missed because of the, maybe, delayed procurement or they were not able to fully utilize the funds provided to them.”
“The 11.89 billion is not a small amount… It could affect the efficiency of the delivery of healthcare services,” dagdag pa nio Ugay.
Sa kanilang 2020 report, kasama ang nasita sa P42.41 bilyong pakikipag-artner sa ahensya na walang memorandum of agreement at iba pang supporting documents gayundin ang P11.89 bilyong unobligated allotments. RNT/FGDC
