Lazada, Shopee, MSAP execs na ‘di dumalo sa Senate hearing, pinadalhan ng subpoena

Manila, Philippines – Nag-isyu na ng subpoena ang isang komite ng Senado laban sa mga opisyal ng online shopping platforms na Shopee at Lazada, at sa Media Specialist Association of the Philippines.

Ito ay makaraang hindi sila sumipot sa pagdinig tungkol sa social media platforms upang pakinggan ang kanilang panig tungkol sa usapin ng advertisement placements at online videos na may laman na maling impormasyon.

Inihayag naman ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon ang mosyon para sa subpoena at sinang-ayunan ni Senador Francis Pangilinan.

Sinundan ito ng babala na masa-cite for contempt oras na hindi pa rin sila lumitaw sa susunod na pagdinig.

“The subpoena shall contain a notice that if they have ignored the invitation of this committee without giving an explanation and that the failure to heed the subpoena shall give rise to a contempt citation.”

“We already place that warning so that if they don’t attend the next time, we can hold them in contempt.” RNT/FGDC
