Mandatory vax ‘di pa ipatutupad ng CHED

MANILA, Philippines- Inanunsyo ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) nitong Miyerkules na hindi pa nito itutulak ang mandatoryong pagbabakuna ng mga guro at estudyante  sa pagsisimula ng limitadong in-person classes.

Sa isang press briefing,sinabi ni  CHED chairperson Prospero de Vera III na hinihikayat nila na magpabakuna ang mga estudyante laban sa coronavirus disease (COVID-19) upang makabalik sa in-person classes.

“I had a meeting with the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations of the Philippines (Cocopea) sabi ko kailangan pag-aralan muna natin yan (mandatory vaccination). Kasi we are still hoping at this point in time that by saying we can only have face-to-face if you are vaccinated, would be an incentive for students to get vaccinated so they can go back to school,” ani De Vera during sa online press briefing.

Dagdag pa niya, tutugunan umano muna nila ang mga isyu sa pagbabakuna dahil mas marami nang mga estudyante ang nais na maturukan ng COVID-19 vaccines.

“We don’t know at one point the vaccination students will start leveling off. I think when it starts to level off or decrease, that is the proper time to talk about mandatory things,” pahayag ni De Vera.

“Pero ngayon ang nakikita natin, gusto pa magpabakuna ng mga estudyante so ang challenge is how do we vaccinate all those who want to be vaccinated,” patuloy pa niya.

Sa ilalim ng CHED guidelines, mga fully-vaccinated na estudyante, teaching at non-teaching personnel lamang ang papayagang makilahok sa limitadong face-to-face classes.

Para naman sa mga hindi pa bakunadong estudyante, siniguro ni CHED Executive Director IV Attorney Cindy Jaro na ipagpapatuloy ang edukasyon sa pamamagitan ng flexible learning.

“There is continuity of education. Education has not stopped. The commission has issued guidelines allowing online, offline modality of learning so for those unvaccinated for those students, who cannot participate in the limited classes, we shall continue to implement the guidelines for flexible learning,” sabi ni Jaro sa online briefing.
