Halos 150K COVID vax natupok sa sunog sa Zamboanga del Sur

MANILA, Philippines- Kinumpirma ng awtoridad nitong Martes ang pagliyab ng isang lokal na health office sa Zamboanga del Sur  na nagdulot ng pagkasira ng 148,678 doses ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines.

Base sa joint statement mula sa National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 at Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) on the Management of Infectious Diseases, naganap ang sunog sa tatlong palapag na gusali sa Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Health Office nitong Oktubre 31 ng gabi.

Inookupahan ng iba’t ibang opisina at departamento ng provincial government ang naturang gusali na isa ring cold chain storage facility para sa mga COVID-19 vaccines na nakalaan para sa 26 na munisipalidad at isang component city.

Base sa inisyal na ulat, nagdulot ng pinsala ang insidente sa 9,176 doses ng AstraZeneca, 14,400 doses ng Moderna, 88,938 doses ng Pfizer, at 36,164 doses ng Sinovac maging sa routine immunization vaccines na nakalaan sa probinsya.

“The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 together with the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC) are closely monitoring developments in the incident’s investigation,” saad sa joint statement na pinirmahan nina NTF chief implementer Carlito Galvez Jr., IATF Chairman at DOH Sec. Francisco Duque III, NTF vice chair at DILG Sec. Eduardo Ano, at NTF deputy chief implementer Vivencio “Vince” Dizon.

Kasalukuyan namang nakaantabay ang mga ahensya ng gobyerno upang magbigay ng suporta sa regional at local vaccination operation centers sa Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9). 

Nasa proseso na ng pagkuha sa mga bakunang maaari pang magamit, unutilized refrigerators, carriers, at transport boxes ang mga opisyal ng IATF at NTF.

Dagdag pa nila, maaaring i-reschedule ang pagbabakuna sa provincial at municipal level sanhi ng pangyayari.

“We would like to assure the residents of Zamboanga del Sur that the NTF and NVOC will replenish all the damaged vaccine especially those meant for citizens who are scheduled to get their second dose soon. The vaccine doses will be shipped immediately as soon as the new cold storage is ready for use,” ayon sa joint statement.

Iniimbestigahan na ang sanhi ng sunog. Maglalabas naman ang provincial government ng Zamboanga del Sur ng show cause order sa kadahilanang hindi agad naipamahagi sa ng mga bakuna sa loob ng tatlong araw matapos matanggap ang mga ito. 

“May this unfortunate incident be a reminder to all local government units to ensure the safety and security of these life-saving vaccines,” paalala ng task force.

“Let us keep in mind that vaccines are gold, and one dose equals one life saved. Protecting and ensuring the safety of these vaccines should be a primordial concern of all levels in the government,” dagdag pa nila. RNT/SA
