Duque pinagbibitw ng solon

Manila, Philippines – Hinimok ni House Deputy Speaker Bienvenido “Benny” Abante Jr si Health Secretary Francisco Duque na magpakababa at magbitiw na lamang ng tahimik sa posisyon.

Kasunod ito ng pahayag ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na hindi niya sisibakin si Duque ngunit tatanggapin niya ito kung kusang magbibitiw.

Ayon sa kongresista, ito ang unang pagkakataon na naringgan niya ng pahayag si Pangulong Duterte na tatanggapin niya ang kusang pagbibitiw ng kalihim.

“I pray that Sec. Duque is humble enough to acknowledge and admit the shortcomings of this tenure at the DOH, and I urge my friend to tender his irrevocable resignation to spare the department and the government from more controversy.”

Giit pa ni Abante, makabubuti para sa sektor ng kalusugan kung magkakaroon ng mas maayos na liderato at pamamalakad sa DOH.

“So many sectors have concerns about the leadership of Sec. Duque, particularly our medical frontliners who, as we speak, are threatening to resign en masse if their benefits are not given,” ani Abante.

Naniniwala ang mambabatas na batay aniya sa kaniyang karanasan bilang public servant ang pananatili ni Duque sa kanyang posisyon ay hindi na nagdudulot ng mabuti hindi lamang sa DOH at PhilHealth kungdi sa kabuuang ng health sector.

“At some point I believe that as a longtime public servant, Sec. Duque should realize his staying on is doing more ill than good. Take his cue from health ministers in other nations who have voluntarily resigned because in their own estimation they had not succeeded in handling the COVID-19 outbreak in their respective countries.”

Mula nang magkaroon ng pandemya ng COVID-19 ay umabot na s may 20 bilang ng health ministers sa buong mundo ang nagsipagbitiw sa kanilang tungkulin dahil sa  mismanagement, incompetence, protocol breaches, at corruption. (Meliza Maluntag)
