Maritime engagements ng US, PCG palalakasin

MANILA, Philippines – Nangako ang Estados Unidos na palalakasin pa ang maritime engagements nito sa Philippine Coast Guard.

Ito ang inihayag ng ahensya kasabay ng courtes visit ni US Department of State deputy director for foreign assistance Tracy Carson ka Adm. Artemio Abu, PCG Commandant sa headquarters nito sa Port Area, Manila.

“During the meeting, the officials discussed the expanded maritime engagements and strengthening foreign relations between the Philippines and US,” pahayag ng PCG nitong Sabado, Oktubre 15.

Maliban sa pagpapalakas ng ugnayan, pinag-usapan din ni Carson at Abu ang capability engagements sa pagpaplano ng multi-domain rapid response, light armaments, command, control, communication, intelligency systems, modernization at acquisition reform planning.

Inihayag naman ni Abu ang kahalagahan ng capability assistance na ibinigay ng pamahalaan ng US sa PCG sa mga nagdaang taon.

Mula 2016, nasa 265 PCG personnel na ang nakinabang sa technical courses na hangod ng US government’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Enforcement Affairs.

“The US-sponsored training and programs emphasize our countries’ strong bond and like-mindedness in improving the PCG’s maritime law enforcement capabilities,” pagtatapos ni Abu. RNT/JGC
