BOC nakipagsanib sa PCG vs drug smuggling sa open seas

Manila, Philippines – Inilantad ni Bureau of Customs (BOC) Assistant Commissioner Vincent Maronilla na sa karagatan ngayon umuusad ang illegal drug traders na nagpupuslit ng droga.

Aniya, tinatawag itong open seas smuggling.

“Because of our strict monitoring and because of our modern equipment, drug smugglers resort to using [open seas].”

Kwento ni Maronilla, nagtatapon ang smugglers ng maliliit na bangka na may floating device at naglalaman ng shabu.

Kaugnay nito, nakipagsabib naman sila sa PCG upang patuloy na matutukan.

“So what we’re doing now is we coordinate with the Philippine Coast Guard and the Philippine Navy to put these areas under their watch.” RNT/FGDC
